What year Explorer are you wanting to install a remote start in? There are modules available for at least some model years that you program as another vehicle key essentially. So when you command a remote start, the module is activated and allows the vehicle to start. There are also less secure methods that involve using an extra programmed key, wrapping a coil of wire around it, and using a relay controlled by the remote start system to allow a remote starter to work.
