I've had my truck broken into twice in San Antonio. They tried to enter through the driver side door where the lock is at and they couldn't so they busted out the back window on my first truck that was a 2018 F-350 and did some other damage on the door handle. It ended up costing me $1,000. The 2nd time, they actually ended up busting out the lock on the driver side door this time on my brand new F-350 2020. I am sure this will cost me around $500 or more to fix the lock and handle.
So I am looking for a proximity / perimeter that will go off when they get within 1-2 feet of my truck. I am planning on installing some VERY VERY LOUD train air horns and hook them up to my security system, instead of that weak horn honking. Thieves have become immune to the honking of horns and regular sounding security systems I want to blast their eardrums off! This is will scare the living sh%t out of them. LOL.
They know they have 30 - 60 seconds to grab what they want while the alarm is going off. I don't keep valuables in my truck but I am getting tired of spending money to repair the damage on my truck. I want to stop them before they do the damage.
Has anyone installed a proximity / perimeter alarm on their truck? If so were you able to tie it into the existing factory alarm system or did you have to purchase an entire new system like viper? The isuse I am seeing with the third party systems is they come with everything. Remote start etc...I just need the proximity / perimeter and would love to be able to hook it up to the factory alarm.
Back in the early 2000s when I was a young man, I had my (very precious to me at the time) F-150 supercab XLT 4x4 Off Road) broken into twice in the parking garage where I worked at the tine. Mind you, this was the cloth seats, bench with the fold down small console with one cup holder, almost bare bones truck....but, I had an aftermarket (not super expensive) CD player/stereo in it. Stolen. Replaced that with an Eclipse that had the code that would brick it if stolen. Well, they broke in the second time, rifled through what very little I had in it but left the stereo (hinting that they knew what it was and was useless to them if they took it).
But, just like you, I was super annoyed that it was costing me $150 each time for new door lock cylinder, handle repair. So I had a friend at an auto customization shop add a second siren to my alarm...but he wired a police/fire truck/ambulance siren to the INSIDE of the cab. When we tested it, it was damage-your-ears loud in that cab.
About 4 months later, I’m in my office and can hear that thing going off in parking garage. I go running out there to find my door wide open and nothing else touched. Nothing. I had the small sense of satisfaction knowing they climbed in and likely thought “nope, not worth it” and hauled butt out of there. Yes, I had to pay for yet another door handle repair, but at least it kept the sorry suckers from rummaging around in it. That was the last time it was broken into and I had it another 7 years after.
I’m a big fan of making it as uncomfortable for the low life sorry scumbag thieves as possible. Sure, they can always break in, but maybe if I can make it super annoying/awful and MAYBE get more attention drawn to them, then it’s worth it.

And yes, same set up in my current F-250
LOL... Yes there is some major stratification in doing this. :[) Sounds like a familiar theme with these trucks. It's getting really bad! They looking for guns in these trucks now a days and anything they can get their hands on.
I've got the limited edition. Maybe I am missing something. I'll look there. Thanks.
With the Limited Trim level it should be there. Its on my F250 STX due to being included in the optional Power Equipment Group(PEG). The PEG is standard on the XLT and Lariat Trim levels therefore should roll up to the Limited Trim level.
That sounds great and certainly louder than the standard horn beep/ viper alarm cadence alarm. I'm in hotels alot for work and have been broken into 4x times and these aren't the roach coach hotels either. If that doesn't scare them off and get the attention of the front desk nothing will.
What Trim level is your 2020 F350?
The Ford security system sounds like you are looking for. Look on pages 78 and 79 of the owners manual.
The security system that comes on these trucks, regardless of trim, does not meet his wants. He wants something with a proximity or more sensitive impact sensor, one that alarms or warns much much much sooner than the factory system.
