Long crank before starting

I just finished repairing the fire damage on my 04 Excursion with a 6.0. Along with several items in the engine compartment one of the big changes I made was to replace the original stand pipes and dummy plug. I made sure to get them tight enough and lubed the o-rings prior to install. When I started it last night it took a very long time to get it to start. I marked it up to no oil in the system but once I started seeing oil pressure on the dash gauge the truck started about 30 seconds later. I let it sit about 20 hours before starting it again. Took another really long cranking time but started and ran just fine. I checked engine codes and they were clear. I did this a few times, each time it took a long cranking to get it to started but each time it did start and again no engine codes.

any suggestions?

thanks,
jeff

It probably still has some air in the high pressure oil rails. It should work its self out with some run time.

Are you plugging in the block heater?

Take it out for a nice long drive to flush out any remaining air. Monitor your ICP and HPOP if you are still having issues, could have possibly cut an o-ring during install.

Well it is apart again. This time I am going to replace all of the injector O-rings, ball cups and ball cup O-rings along with the O-ring for the little plug on top of the high pressure oil rail. Since I have to go back in and look for a damaged O-ring I might as well go ahead and replace all of them. They are supposed to be here either Tuesday or Wednesday but we are supposed to have some really cold weather later this week so I am not sure if I will get them installed before the weekend. I have also decided to install a connection for jumper cables so I won't have to open the hood to jump or get a jump. Using 1 gauge on both the positive and negative cables. I have added a different battery terminal to both posts on both batteries so I have up to 6 positions to connect to. The ground will not go to the battery but the frame connection where they battery is already grounded.

Thanks for the information.
Jeff
