2001 Ford Excursion V10

Hi,
I’m hoping someone might be able to help me figure out why my power mirrors aren’t working.
fuse in the cab of the truck is fine and I’ve got power to the mirror switch. New switch. Just no power to either mirror. Defrost and blinkers attached to the mirrors don’t work either...
Any advice helps. Ty

I'd pull the door panel and inspect the actual connection to the mirror (if you haven't). Maybe the pigtail is degraded / corroded / damaged, who knows. Trace it all the way to the actual mirror and see. Are they the paddle-style small mirrors or some kind of aftermarket unit?

I pulled the panel, and that pigtail seems to be ok. I also pulled the kick panels off the driver and passenger side, and those wires seem good too.
do you think there is another fuse/relay in the main box under the hood? So frustrating cause the other electrical seem to be working...

Is the issue intermittent or did it happen after a change to the vehicle?

Are they factory mirrors or are they upgraded aftermarket? If they are aftermarket, your Ex might not have been equipped with those options. I know that they did not have turn signal in the original mirrors and I don’t believe that they were even wired for them in 01, I think 03 is when the wires were in the harness but not utilized. You might also have to wire the heat as well. There are great write ups in sticky thread on how to do it. Good luck

I bought it with them on there already. They look stock, but I honestly don’t know. What you’re saying makes sense though. I just want the power mirrors to work the heat and turn signals would just be a bonus at this point lol!

Stupid Power Mirrors🤦🏼‍♀️

hi there, I’m just curious how the mirrors can be tested. I’ve heard with (jumper wires)? Is something you could describe to me so that I can try it? I have power to the switch itself, but the nothing at the directional contacts on the plug🤦🏼‍♀️
maybe this will help me determine whether or not the mirrors are still working. At least I’ll feel like I’m making progress🤣

How about a picture of the mirrors and also the wire harness to assist us in pointing you in the right direction.

Those mirrors were not available on the 01 model, the PO must have installed them and failed to run any wires to power them. Does the mirror adjust; or is the mirror not plugged into anything? I believe that style mirror were available on the 03 and newer 250’s I do not know if they were ever available on our Ex’s . You will have to wire them yourself. There is some info on how to do it in the sticky thread above.

I have those on my 02, Vinny is correct, a separate wire will need to be added to run power to them, the rest work as normal. Defrost does not work on mine, but everything else does. I bought it like that, so I don't know the exact wiring setup, but I did see an extra wire in there when I had the door apart one time. Good luck!

it’s just weird to me that I have power to the switch itself? But nothing to the other dims on the same wiring harness🤦🏼‍♀️ I’ll keep exploring and let you know if I find something.
just curious though, do your trailer lights work? Mine don’t and I think that might have something to do with it...

Yes, trailer lights are working. I was surprised to see the extra wire in there myself when I had the door panel off, didn't look farther into it since they were working, sorry.
