1997 ford aerostar 4x4 to 4x2 conversion questions

Hi I have a 97 Aerostar full size that I want to make into a 2 wheel drive. Reason for it is is is rusted out old and not worth fixing as the front differential is shot as well as the cv axles.

What I've done on other old rigs is cut or disassemble the outer cvs so you can use them as your spindles without having to replace them. Main question I have is if I remove the front drive shaft will their be a hole that I will need to cover up on the transfer case, So it doesn't loose fluid , as I know doing this with some vehicles doesn't work without capping it.

also this vehicle is used only on a gravel trail, never highway and never over 30mph, so I'm not worried about cutting wacking and red necking it, just need it to go.

thanks in advance

there is a separate section on FTE for Aerostar... this section is for "Full Size Vans" (Econoline and "E" series)
Good luck with your project.
