4x4 conversion
Has anyone here done a 4x4 conversion on their two wheel drive 87-96 F-series pickup? And are there 4x4 models that have the E40D tranny? I'm wondering if a transfer case can be bolted to the E40D. I was told by another F-series owner that it would be easy to do it because of the IFS design.

i have done the converstion. It was not that bad, it was kinda a bitch for me cause my duel exhasut got in the way. You cant just take a 2x4 tranny and bolt a tcase to it. The output shaft is different, you will have to get the piece that goes between the tcase and the tranny. Normaly it is just easier to get a used 4x4 trany.
You may also have to track down a different drive shaft. I just got mine shortened and welded. Only cost 20 bucks, so it was cheaper than getting a used drive shaft.
