Hi all, my daughter's '89 f250 (4wd, 302) is stalling when in reverse and in drive when coming to a stop (it's not common in drive, but easily 8/10 when shifting into reverse.
Background on the truck: my daughter bought it with her own money (17 yo) about six months ago. It's never run particularly well. We did the basic tune-up upon purchase; plugs, wires, filters, oil, coolant flush. And it's had issues when shifting into reverse since purchase. Truck has 226k, 110k on a full rebuild done fifteen years ago. Daughter is the second owner.
I've replaced all three fuel pumps, fuel filter, IAC, TPS, and MAP. The truck had codes for TPS and EGR (I'll be doing an EGR delete) which I addressed.
I'm at a loss at this point. Ideas and suggestions are appreciated
Take a look at the trucks catalytic converter on the exhaust if it has one, I had a truck at my old job with very similar symptoms and miles, just turned out that the Cat was clogged up.
As usual, check for codes, clean the IAC and the throttle body. I also suggest pulling out a couple of spark plugs if you haven't replaced them in a while, also replace the fuel filter if it's been there for a while (70k miles tops).

I cleaned the throttle body when I did the TPS. IAC is new. Plugs and wires are new. Fuel filter, and all fuel pumps are new, as well as the fuel pressure regulator.
Sold the truck today to get the daughter into something reliable (Toyota). It's just crazy that there are so many people with related issues, but there's never a definitive answer to the problem. Just a blackhole of probabilities.
