Front Receiver question.

Just bought this 1994 F250 4x4. It has a front receiver, but there is another 2" square tube on either side of the hitch. Any idea what for? Sorry about picture.

pictures are lacking quality, but the outer tubes could be for a bolt on grill protector, or maybe upper snow plow hoop.

I was thinking it might be for mounting a winch.

I think you need to show some good pics from underneath that show where and how it is attached, and what it is attached to???

It looks to ‘light weight’ to be a plow mount from what I see, there is nothing to latch the plow to, and mating up / lining up something like a plow into those tubes would be very difficult. Plus, it’s a California truck.. assuming it’s always been.

Id assume it was a grille protector as TJC said above, or maybe a winch mount as above, something along those lines. Or something specialized if it were ever a shop truck or maybe the previous owner had something specific it was used for.

Cheers, 🍻

now seeing the better pictures, it is not a plow mount. either grill protector, or more likely a light bar mount.

I have seen grounds / lawn trucks mount a front ladder rack for pipes and tubing that are long off the front too. Could be any number of things really.

Yours might be a bike rack or a mount for an over the cab canoe carrier or something

Those are not OEM. Neither is the front hitch receiver. The truck did not come from the factory that way.

Now, you can have fun with it. It's now left to your imagination, what could be fabricated.

The bed rails have holes like a ladder or lumber rack. Maybe it was a rack that went all the way to the front. ?
