Going Stroked

I've decided to go stroked and have a 347 short block on order. My truck is a 94 SWB 2WD and I'm having trouble knocking down a cam selection. I want max torque as low in the rpm range as possible without killing top end. I'm looking at Comp Cams 35-510-8, 35-349-8 and 35-512-8. Will have GT40 heads, Scorpion 1.6 roller rockers, LT headers, 4.10 gear and 53 mm TB. Compression will be 9.8. I don't know enough about cams to make the best decision here, looking for advice from those with knowledge and a kind heart.

Well the biggest thing is, how are you planning to supply the fuel? Carb or fuel injection? What transmission do you have? There is a lot more to putting an engine together than just the engine itself. If you have an electronic transmission, you will need a way to control that. A stroker will be on the ragged edge of a stock 351 maf setup so an aftermarket computer will be beneficial. Of you go carb, yiu either have to ditch the computer controlled trans or get a trans controller.
These are just a few thoughts before i even looked at the part numbers for the cams you listed.
edit ok stroking to 347, a 351 maf computer may do what you need.... too much Laphroaig 10 tonight lol

The truck is EFI and has factory maf and 4R70 trans and will be controlled with factory ECU. Roller block. Truck is chip tuned. I know I'll probably have to increase injector size and will take advice on that too.

Intake manifold matters too. Are you going to use an explorer setup, stick with the truck setup, or aftermarket? The long runner intakes will want a different cam than a typical dual plane carb intake.

The Comp 35-320-8 would be my suggestion for the broadest powerband, it's the exact same as the 35-349-8 with 2 degrees narrower LSA.

According to Comp's description this cam uses 1.7 rockers. I've already bought 1.6 rockers. So 112 LSA would be better than 114 LSA for a truck application?

You can use any rockers you want, the wording around the specs for this cam concerning LSA and total valve lift are misleading at best. 114 deg LSA sacrifices some performance for better emissions, if emissions aren't top priority the wider LSA isn't necessary.

What are your thoughts on this cam from Flowtech. FTI "GT40-KR1-A" Hydraulic Roller Camshaft - FlowTech Induction For a $75 additional fee the will make a custom grind. Would it be worth it or just stick with an off the shelf selection?
