Fuse box replacement
Fuse box replacement
I was doing some work on my truck today when I realized that one of the slots on my dash fuse box was completely melted out. I assume the previous owner put a fuse in there that was rated higher than what he should have. I can remember the number but it is the top left slot. I noticed that it is affecting my wiper fuse as well, as my wipers usually do not work properly but if I push on the fuse, which is directly below the melted slot, the wipers and spray work perfectly.
I have a spare truck I can pull parts from, I'm wondering what it takes to replace the entire fuse panel.

Swapping the whole box is a CHORE, having to solder and shrink every wire. It's most likely the blower motor fuse that melted.
I would pull the wires out the back, do an inline fuse, and add a relay for the blower motor in the engine bay where the stock wires just trip the relay. The speed is off the ground side so it'll all still work.
Thanks for the respones, I figured out the answer to my question pretty quickly after asking. Not gonna go through all that hassle. I think the PO mustve already installed an inline fuse as I have no issues with the blower motor.
IF you don't know for sure that the PO added a new fuse, I would suggest you inspect what was done and make sure a fuse was added (better to have blown fuse than a fried harness)
I've know too many folks that just short cut things and sooner or later it will bite someone.
