does anyone know if you can put manual extend and manual fold mirrors in place of power extend and fold. the ones (total power) on my truck are no longer working and the OEM is very expensive. manuals are more reasonable.
I went through the same. Factory way too expensive. I went with these. Very happy with them. See if this helps you rogerru. Half the price of OEM. Looks identicaI and they do everything. I swear it's the same manufacturer lol!

When my mirror puked on my 2011, I replaced it with one from 1A Auto. The first one I got was good, but it didn't go up and down. They sent me another mirror (and didn't want the first one back), and it worked great. I had it for 4 or 5 years before the engine puked. I had the full power, power extending, heated, folding. The mirror is less than $400. Customer service is great. I would recommend them as a replacement mirror.
I wonder if anyone has disassembled the OEM to see why they stop extending and repaired it?
I searched a bit and everyone has the problem but no solution other than replacement. Not worth it to me. Trucks 10 years old and I have never needed the extend feature,
My right side stopped extending 2 years ago now the left is defective.
The folding feature I use all the time. It's slowing down too. Sure doesn't like the below-freezing temps with ice. They will and do frees up.
Wonder how this design ever passed cold-weather or accelerated durability testing when new? My bet is it failed both miserably or never got the full test.
I'll bet it's just dirt and rust or plastic gear that is shot. I like to tear things down to see why they break. I'll be digging into mine in the summer to lube things up and see what's up. If I find the solution you bet Ill post it in a vid.

I had someone slap mirrors on my '15 parked on street in front of my house. Of course they kept on going (hit and run). The replacement mirror was $966.00 plus tax from Ford.
I had a couple of mirrors on one of my '08 parts trucks for sale so I decided to see if I could repair mine since it was housing that was damaged.
I removed the screws, got the housing apart and was able to use the '08 mirror parts on the '15 mounts. I did have to modify the front housing to clear the '15 mirror adjustment assembly. That took trimming some plastic away from it. That happened back in March and so far they are working well. Mine are heated, remote, power fold, power extend, and memory. In the end it cost me the $$ that I would have received had I sold them but it is what it is. Hit and run drivers. When personal responsibility isn't appropriate. Go figure eh??
For those in the know... my truck is an 09 F250 Super Duty XL regular cab 8’ bed single rear wheel with manual fold mirrors. Can the power fold/extend mirrors for this year be installed and functional on this truck?
