i picked up a set of power/heated mirrors on craigslist yesterday for $150..the drivers side fish eye mirror was broken so i gotts get a replacemnt for that..but otherwise they are great..wiring matched up and i love them!
they are going to take alittle getting used to, as i havent got them ajusted right yet i dont think..hard to see the lane next to me..big blind spot.
i think they really fit the truck much better then the paddle mirrors, hope to have them painted to match here soon along with some other parts.
before
after
sorry for all the pics, i'm just very excited for them lol
thanks and yes, my stockers were heated but i was expecting to loose that..but i didnt these mirrors are power and heated also so it worked out perfect!
Nice dealership, I remember him from California with his dog "Spot". Go see Cal, go see Cal, go see Cal. Sorry, off topic.
Great mirrors, great install, great color. If you really want to see behind the icing on the cake would be adding the "C-Betr". It's practically all I use when I look at the mirror.
very easy install, i got back into town from picking them up around 5pm...we had a Ron White comedy show to go to at 7pm...i was able to install them, take a test drive to put them where i needed and then wash the truck and made it to the show about 45mins early.
i'm really happy with how easly the door panals are to remove/install in these trucks! makes it soooo easy!
and yes, i love cal worthington my grandpas company has been buying all there fleet trucks from them for 20+ years. i did not buy from them but afteer the selling dealer pissed me off i put the Cal dealer plates on lol
What parts of the mirror are you going to have painted?
everything except the part that extends (the 2 bars )
i would have liked to held out for some '08 mirrors with signals and all that jazz but i just wasnt going to pay that much for mirrors..so i figured i'd keep an eye out for some older towing mirrors and poof these showed up.
i plan to had some LED marker/turn signals to these mirrors in time also.
Once you learn to look at AND trust the lower convex mirror, there is no blind spot. You can see them all the way up to them being at your rear door.
Don't try and get used to them. Use them for what they're best suited for, pointed at the rear tires so you can adjust your rig while backing to avoid curbs, rocks, hazards, etc, which is especially useful while backing a trailer.
Why point them at the rear wheels? Because those little mirrors on the bottom are woefully inadequate when compared to C-Betr mirrors.
Back when I first bought the Excursion, I did a ton of research for accessories available and I found the C-Betr mirrors. I immediately bought them and oh my heck, they're the best thing since sliced bread baby!
When I bought my F250 last year, there were a few items I immediately purchased for my truck, a set of C-Betr's were among them.
Stewart is exactly right. Both of my lower convex mirrors are pointed at the rear tires, it is the only use of a mirror that size. The "C-Betr" that I mentioned earlier is what I'm always looking at when I check my outside mirrors. Easy install, easier than what you just did.
And yes, they are that good.
