I have some original warn premium externals off a 69' (i think) chevy dana 44, The hubs have been beaten to death, and still work just like the day they were made. I know the took a couple hard hits, as the body had been deformed slightly. But they engage and work just fine. And i think they would be much easier to fix then the autos or even the internal manuals. 6 hex screws and the selector/ locking assembly come out, 6 nuts and the drive flange come off. Cant beat them for simplicity.
Would trust anything to the auto's. They just dont like to work. And even when they do, they seem to pop in and out. It sad when ford doesn't even trust them and puts a manual selector on the auto hubs on the new super duties.

You do realize the original question was asked in 2003?
The good milemarkers and warn premiums are both good quality hubs. I wonder how the selectro hubs are? A little more pricey than 35sp warns but I think it would be easier to twist when your hands are cold and muddy than the warns.
