Dual Catalytic converter
So my 87 f150 4.9l efi has 2 cats on it, do I need them both to pass California smog? Can I just replace the front one with a high flow magnaflow cat, cut the 2nd one off and add the muffler?

Looks like Magnaflow makes cats for your truck, not sure they are "high flow".

Unless your cats are dead, there is no reason to swap the stockers out. You aren't going to unlock any power vs. the stock items.
OEM stuff means you're in and out of the smog check with very few words exchanged and time lost.
