one cat or two

Hi all. I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask this. Can someone tell me if my 85 full size bronco with a 4.9L carbureted engine came from factory with one catalytic converter or 2? My neighbor has an 86 F150 with the same engine and his has 2 cats. I'm in the process of restoring my bronco to original. I have untill next summer to get it ready for emissions. Here in Pa. emissions is just visual, things do not have to work. I don't know if that makes a difference in the question that I asked.
Thanks. Bill

They originally has two cats. The first one is two inlets and one outlet. The second is about 12-16 inches down the line. The O2 sensor is between them.

it's a nice set up for dual exhaust just go off of the two pipes before the first Cat then get an aftermarket cat for each pipe.

Older carbed 300's had a single converter, later EFI models had dual convertors. If you have to replace the latter just buy a new downpipe/ single converter combo from an aftermarket supplier.
