Radiator side covers

Doing some routine maintenance on my '13 6.2.
Between the radiator sides and the headlights, behind the grill is some paper-like material that has disintegrated. Kind of reminds me of tar paper. I'd imagine it's some kind of air shield. Anyway this material has basically rotted away.
Couple questions.
Is this something I should replace?
And what would be the part number if did want to replace this?

Thanks for any help.

Same thing happened to my 2010. I just pulled it all out and threw it away. I would guess Ford put it there to lower the dB to make the EPA happy. They did something similar with my F150. It had a giant piece of hard carpet hung under the engine. Served no purpose.

If does serve a purpose. It insures the air flow through the radiator and not around it.

That's kind of what I thought.
I'd like to replace them, just can't find a part number on the couple of ford sites I've searched thru.

EDIT:
After some more searching I think I've answered my question. They're side air baffles.

Been running without the flaps for years without overheating. Maybe you're thinking of a fan shroud or something. OP is talking about the thin rubber sheets in front of the rad that fall apart after 2 years.

No, I know what he was talking about. Just because you have never had any issues, doesn't mean someone else will be as lucky. Also, he has a different engine than your 5.4 that might need the baffles when towing.

While I wasn't excited about the price to replace these baffles, which are nothing more than some die cut construction paper, I got both left & right sides on order.

thanks for the help.

I had a issue with a '12 6.7 air conditioning overheating the condenser and had high pressures. Replacing those baffles took care of the problem. They are there to stop airflow from circumventing radiator and other coolers. Properly installed they do work.

I was going to say...anything around the radiator and other coolers that looks like it directs air into said devices...are there for a reason. And for most people who never tow anything, they're not needed. But if you start having issues or are towing, you want as much air going into those systems as possible.

Next time you might want to think about using something like this:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/GAF-Tri-...9000/310500811

I usually have a roll laying around and I just cut out what I need, usually double it, glue it together pop my holes. If you only ever use it on your truck then you're probably set for life with one roll.
