On the final day of 2020 I just got done towing my friends SUV to his house because his transmission went out, I go drop the trailer then head into town to get someting to eat then when I pull out of the parking lot, the clutch pedal feels different and starts sticking to the floor, I pull it back up and then I can't push the clutch, and the truck would go into any gear with it running but wouldn't move. I have it towed home, pull the transmission and find a broke clutch fork, and the South Bend clutch looks like its on its last leggs as well, I just put it in 4 years ago and only has 37,000 miles on it, flywheel has a pretty good ridge in it as well. I am going to replace it with a SB dual disc, but I also want the updated shift fork, new shifter bushings and the inner shift boot is torn. Anyone know the best place to get those last 3 things? Also how does the input shaft look?
For the inner boot, if you are talking about the off white one I have a post with the part number and source somewhere on here. I also have the bushings information saved on my laptop. I also have the part number for the very small black boot under the white boot as well.
If you don't find my post or the other part numbers by tomorrow morning, I'll see if I can find them and post the details here.
If that input shaft is smooth and parallel from one end to the other, then I'd say it's good, but you'd need to check it with a micrometer, it should be within about .0003" or less parallel wise, and with a smooth mirror-like surface.
Better put a decent bushing (oil impregnated bronze) in the new flywheel while you're at it.
OK, so the parts were not quite as easy to find as I would have liked, but here are a couple that you may need. Sometimes it helps to use the term "S6-650" instead of ZF6 if looking on the worldwideweb.

I had the Kevlar pilot bushing in it before, but it looks like the Dual Disc I ordered comes with a pilot bearing instead.
I need the small black boot that goes on the shifter assembly, I think I found it along with the bushings on Amazon.
the whole assembly is not that expensive. One of the many things I’ve replaced. Usually shops don’t take the time to put them back on correctly or the inner white boot tears or goes missing.

What inner white boot is there? Mine never had that.
Oh you were talking about the tiny black boot that sits right above the removable access plate (with the hex bolts) on the shift tower I'm assuming now...not the inner/outer boot assembly with the plastic bezel that screws to the floorboard with the 4 screws.

Dual disk does come with pilot bearimg, and it is a good one, use it.
You will like that clutch, it holds p to abuse well, and drives nice.
It pairs with the 180/30s in my work truck well, and gets abused badly with no issues to show after 2 years.
As a side note I saw a fb club post that said the dieselsite sleave kit for a bad shaft/bearimg does bot work in the dd, due to the bearings having a different external diamiter I believe.
If you want get crazy with this grand repair you can install a new hydraulic assembly and a new pedal box as well. That little plastic "bird cage" retaining clip that holds the end of the master cylinder rod to the stub on the pedal is usually broken also. The clutch switch is probably fine to reuse.
