Anyone upgraded fuel pumps?

1994 F150 5.0. Looking to install either higher output pumps into my factory in tank units or put a complete unit in. Maybe someone has done this before. Either way, it's happening. I didn't find anything on the search. I am putting a blower on soon and know I'm gonna hear about fuel supply if I send it to the tuner as is. I am refusing to go frame rail booster pump at this point. The entire point of this is to stay very factory looking but big power (1994 standards ). I'm also trying to stay very factory for parts reasons as well. Obviously, if I have to go up line size, everything is out the window. I doubt I'll be there though, maybe next motor.

I put a 255l/hr pump in my F150 one time... actually I put 2 different pumps in... first one didn't fit at all and the second one fit with a little persuasion but only lasted 6 months.
There is or was a complete high flow FDM available at one time, I had a link somewhere I will try to dig it up.

Kenne Bell's kit bolts to the factory lower intake and the throttle body in factory location. A K&N filter and headers will look less stock than this.

I emailed them. I asked for pump output vs. pressure chart, voltage requirement, and warranty. I know our trucks routinely will see less than 12v at the pumps. I don't know if that's a contributing factor in the early failure on other units or not. If they're the only player, I guess I'll have to risk it.

Can you elaborate on that? I’m genuinely interested. Thanks.

It would be generally a low rpm condition/ high load/ changing load/ worn alternator/ beyond factory demand(accessories) . Not a problem for stock pumps and motors, but put in a pump that draws more current (more amps for the same volts) and it would be hard on the pump. I'm not an electrician.

I have Aeromotive 11540s in both of my trucks. 340 LPH, E85 safe. I had to disassemble the factory fuel pump assembly to install it, but not a huge deal.

That drawing is surprisingly close to what already exists in the factory wiring. Big difference is the 10 ga wire from the relay to the pump and the pump to ground. What is not shown here is the tank switch and the inertia switch. The factory fuel pump relay is fed via a fusible link and 10 ga wire from the main +12 distribution point at the starter solenoid. No improvement here.

Routinely, no. I have had a problem with poor grounds causing this, but there were some maintenance conditions involved. It is a repairable issue and somewhat uncommon.

This would be true. I would suggest increasing the wire size downstream of the fuel pump relay. If you are running only one tank, you could eliminate the fuel tank switch which may be a potential trouble spot. In general, minimizing connections will minimize potential trouble spots.
