I checked them out. So it went right into the factory spot? Did you run any new/ bigger wires as mentioned above? Thanks for the info guys.

You must sell booster pumps. As mentioned before, it was for parts reasons as well. I don't want to modify stock fuel lines.... GOT IT? You lost the argument the second you questioned what I want to do to MY truck. You can make YOUR truck as gay as you want diesel boy.

PIC HEAVY Final Product!!!

Okay guys, I went for it. I went with these guys because of the direct fit application and they were really the only player I could find that provided that.
LINK PREVIOUSLY PROVIDED HERE ( Company withheld information, issue not resolved)
I read every line on this thread and thought I needed to up the wire size. I did some more digging and here's what I got; These pumps only pull 12.5 amps. The relay is 20. I bailed on the wire size increase. I wired in a 15 amp fuse at each tank. So far so good. They are MUCH quieter than I was expecting. I would put them right at stock (quieter if yours are dying). Check it out.

Neighbors starting to think I'm crazy

Cleaned up pretty good

Dogs aren't sure how they are supposed to ride on that.

Carb spray, compressed air, and a vacuum BEFORE you pull that pump!

Pic out of order, but you get the idea.

I torch soldered and heat shrunk both lines. Factory was only the hot.

New unit was a great fit.

I figured these couldn't possibly hurt.

This will be my test piece. It's soaking in gasoline as you read this. The second I don't like how it looks in the jar, I will reassess.

I intended on a new seal but the parts store only had one and wouldn't sell separate from the metal lock ring. Old seal was soft as could be so I saved $25 and cleaned up the old one. Use a little oil to promote seal and maybe swell a little.

The paint. always have to paint. Never on wires or liquid lines, that's just not tasteful.

Two layers of 20 mil tape under each bed mount hole. I can't stand the the constant erosion of my precious bed supports and being constantly reminded by the friction noise.

I will update you guys if anything dies an early death or they don't pump as advertised. These were laying the foundation for this

Don't forget to test it all before the bed goes back on.

And here I thought they were thinking... “Finally, we get to ride in the cab!”... lol.

Looks nice, frame cleaned up very nice, the condition of your southern trucks always amazes me! That looks like quite the engine you have for it too!

Cheers, 🍻

Thanks so much for the update with great pics! I plan on using these same pumps in my rig for my new setup so glad to see they are working well for you.

Now I started it. This will be a different thread at a later date. Craigslist score. Made for these trucks. Factory TB bolts in factory location. Jon Bond rebuild. He traded my 1.5 out for a 2.0. I'm gonna plum a bypass and underdrive the unit to start. It may run standard rpm on a 5.8 way down the road. This trucks not going anywhere. I have some things planned.

I knew they were done for mounting on H.O.s & thought they were done for OBS 5.0 like what you have. (but never saw one)

Is/was a 5.8 KB available only for a 5.8 GT40/Lightning lower?

Sorry that I missed this before. On the earlier style assemblies, you can simply undo the wiring and the hose clamp for the soft line on the factory pump, and install the Aeromotive pump. On the later style assemblies, where the pump is in side of the canister in the tank, you have to disassemble the canister and then you can go through the same process to install the new pump. On my '89, I ran new fuel line from the tank to the motor and bypassed the high pressure pump on the fuel rail, as it is no longer needed in my case.

I didn't run any new wires or relays. No issues. The Aeromotive pump is a lot quieter than the stock ones were as well.

Glad to hear you got it all sorted out. Looks like a job well done.

Great write up. I have an off topic question about the back of your cab:
What is the black square with four bolts on the back of cab, in the left on the picture?
My old 94 had the holes plugged, but nothing there. My flareside does not have holes at all, nothing.

It's a Vibration Damper. Some trucks have them, others do not is all I recall.

Correct.

There has been previous discussion on this forum about these. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason as to why certain cabs got them. You can find any cab configuration, with any engine, and any trim level with or without it. Seems like they just put them on at the assembly line when they felt like it.

I know I am pretty late to this party but I was talking to EllieMae94 yesterday and he mentioned about getting a hi flow fuel pump and I need a new fuel pump as well so I started digging into this. I started with a search for the stock pump flow numbers which I found in the first link post #8. Then looked at the Highflow pumps for my 94 F150 2nd link. On the 255L pumps highflow shows a airtex PN so I googled searched that till I found a match on Rockauto.com 3rd link. In the Lower LH corner on Rockauto you will see the Airtex PN. If you click on the PN it shows you it fits a 95-96 Ford explorer and if you click on the info it brings up the 4th link which will show pressure and flow ratings and OE PN's. That lead me to Tasca parts to check to see what the front tank fuel PN was 5th link so I could compare PN's. Then I went back to rockauto and look up the pumps for my 94 F150 5.8L 6th link and as I was paging down looking for fuel pump they offer a Hi flow pump as well which is the 7th & 8th links. Last link is a LPH to GPH calculator. While looking at different fuel pumps pay attention to the warranty. Some are lifetime while others are 12mo/12,000 miles.

I would like to verify the stock pump output other than in link #1 so if anyone has that info could you please post a link to it or the specs of it. The point of this is to find a OE pump that flows more and right now its looking like the 95-96 Explorer pump puts out a little more than the OE pump in our trucks.

Edit. I added the Airtex fuel pump link at the bottom.

Will those Aeromotive pumps slide right into the stock pump plastic housing with no mods??

I'd have to pull the pump back out of the tank to refresh my memory. But without doing that, I think that I removed the entire plastic disaster and just hung the pump from the tube like the old style fuel sending units. I remember the plastic housing being a bear to remove. Almost need 4 hands to release all the little tabs.
