i have a 1988 ford f-250 4x4 i think it has a eec4 electronic ignition i installed a tech in it from autometer the instructions said not to hook it up to the coil. my questoin is why? what will happen? the instructions said to connect it to the electronic ignition at the tech terminal i could not get the electronic ignition box loose to see were to hook it up to the box i think is located be hind the kick panel on the drivers side can you give me any info. thanks ws6

For your truck, which has the TFI Ignition, I pulled this off of the AutoMeter Website.
Ford TFI (thick film integrated)
The green wire from the tach will connect to the green wire with a yellow stripe that is on the coil. This wire may also be either a solid green wire or a green wire with a white stripe.
I have a MSD 6AL on my truck, and it has the Tach Output. But the info above should help you.
