67 rear axle width ??

67 rear axle width ??
I recently bought a 67 f100 swb 2wd for my wife 50th B-day. I familiar with dent sides but bumps not so much. Is it correct for the rear track to be narrower than front by 3'' or so ? My main question is if that's correct is i have a spare rear from a 73. Do people swap them , and move spring perch on axles to achieve a better look?

I put a wider rear under my 70 F-250 and have no clearance issues. I was told or read that the narrower rear helped make the turning radius a little smaller but I didn't care for the look of it myself. If you make the change, pull your existing rear axle out and match the perch to pinion angle exactly and you should be good to go.
