this should be a easy one. I have done this before and I can't remember the procedure. I have a 1993 7.3 l idi, and I want to replace the top two orings on the injectors
I just cant remember exactly how to do it and I couldn't find a thread on it. need some help. I think I am getting air into my fuel lines somewhere.
thanks guys

what about the fuel lines, seems like i had to remove a bracket. never thought about stp. i didn't lube them last time i replaced which has been at least 10 years.
thanks lonewolf
no they are not leaking, but i think i am getting air from somewhere. starts right up first time in the morning then dies, then it takes like 15 cranks to get
it started and the rest of the day it will start on first start, but if you wait more than a day. does the same thing. already did the fuel filter. thought the orings would be
easiest next thing, they were leaking last time i replaced but they are not leaking now. I guess i won't mess with them.
thing is on the 93 you have a check valve in the filter head to the return so bleed back should not be an issue... the IP itself has the housing pressure regulator that stops bleed back as it don't open until the housing pressure reaches between 6-8 PSI
what I would look at is after it sits for a few days then unscrew the filter and see if it is Full... IF not then look at the packing Glands (Olive Seals) heater "O" ring or supply lines. just saying
there are check valves in the mechanical Lift pump so drain back should not be an issue there... look in the valley pan IF your IP has a weep hole the front seal can leak...not all IP have weep hole.
The Pump on my 93 does not have a weep hole so if the front seal leaks it leaks into the crank case... now if your return Check valve on the filter head is leaking then it could drain fuel back to the tank.
I have had the upper Filter "O" ring on my filter leak but never really caused the issues that you describe..... Put a Cap on the Schrader Valve if you don't already have one.
I filled both tanks up. yeh you told me a bunch of stuff I am not familiar with. I may just have to take it to the shop. just never had a fuel problem.
but I have done just about everything else on that truck
so you don't think I should mess with the fuel injector orings. I had like three bad when I replaced 10 years ago and I can't remember if I replaced them all or not.
