Engine rebuild data??

I am curious if someone can help me determine what the data off my engine re-buid plate all means.I bought a 64 F350 and the engine was rebuilt before I got it, how much does it change HP or torque, performance. I am looking at getting an old V8 engine to play with so my kids and I can learn the details of rebuilding an engine. I have changed heads and replaced crankshafts etc. but when it come to boring and such I have next to no experience.

Model 292 ( self explanatory)
Bore 030
Mains 010
Rods 010

There is a number on the side not sure if it's pertinent 12019N

That would indicate the bore is 30 thousandths (0.030") of an inch bigger in diameter than stock bore of the cylinders - all 8 of them.
Then the crankshaft main and rod journals have been ground down 10 thousandths (0.010") of an inch undersize on each of them.

The average home hobbyist would not have the tools to bore a block or to grind down a crankshaft. Many engine/machine shops don't have the means to do both - often specializing in one or the other.

A .030 overbore only changes the cubic inch displacement slightly. That, in and of itself, wouldn't generally do anything highly noticeable for performance.

Thanks for the explanation, I guess I could have been more clear. I have no means of boring, nor would I attempt it myself. I know a guy who builds race cars so if anything more than honing is required I would take it to him. I just wanted to understand what the numbers mean and how it effects how the engine performs WRT torque and HP.

That's a Y Block, they have a few idiosyncrasies to beware of, study this page so in addition to their newly found technical knowledge the kids don't pickup some new swear words thanks to dear old Dad!

Stock engine
Bore - 3.75"
Stroke - 3.3"
CID = 291.58

Bored 30 thou
Bore - 3.78"
Stroke - 3.3"
CID = 296.26

Less than 5 cubic inches gained. When dealing with a number nearly 300 an addition of 5 is barely noticeable. Most big gains from cubic inches would come from a stroker crankshaft giving a longer stroke. Boring an engine is limited to how big you can go since you start narrowing the walls to the water jacket and that can start to cause overheating problems. 80 thou is often an upper limit before problems start to occur, often much less than that. Core shift when the engine was cast new can reduce an engines ability to be over bored.
