We have a 2013 F 250 we have had a couple years. Just recently, the check engine light came on, showing the ambient sensor. Only problem is, we can't find it! It is not on the grill or in the mirror. Where else can we look?
As far as I am aware all 2011 and up have the ambient sensor located in the passenger side mirror. Is it possible somebody replaced the passenger side mirror with an aftermarket unit or a mirror for an 08-2010? Those typically don't include the ambient temp sensor.
I thought about that. It's just strange that it isn't throwing a code until 2 years later. You would think that would happen sooner.
Agreed something doesn't jive. Only other thing that comes to mind is a chafed wire however you need to locate that sensor in order to trace the wires back.
1. What trim level (XL, XLT, Lariat, KR, etc...) is this truck?
2. Does it have the automatic or manual climate control system?
3. Power or manual mirrors? Original or replacement (right side)?
Other than an apparent check engine light, are there any other remotely related symptoms that have been observed?
