Did you do this test prior to, or after installing your intercooler? I'm with Brett on taking the pipes and IC out of the equation and see if it still does it.

Also might be an issue with the boost leak tester itself. You could always tap a 4" PVC cap and use the compressor regulator and see if the issue persists with that as well, to at least rule out the tester itself.

I never tested boost before I installed the intercooler unfortunately. I still have the intake “y” from the stock configuration. I reckon I could just pop that back on and test it like y’all are saying to see if it’s in the intercooler pipes. I’m headed to get the pvc to make a homemade tester now to compare it against my tester from dieselsite. Really hoping this is a leak issue rather than a piston ring/piston issue

Normal for boost to let off quickly after you shut off air supply that's why it has to be set a steady rate. Do as the other guys said.

You want the tester to be hooked up and receiving a steady supply of air regulated to 10-15 pai to check for leaks. The engine won't hold that pressure indefinitely since there's always a valve cracked open and the piston rings have openings.

So when you test it again, keep the air hooked to the tester to maintain a good pressure while squirting the soapy water.

Not to derail Conner's thread, but I'm assuming you hook up the tester to the exhaust pipe? What PSI should this be set to?

Im about to get into it now actually! Going to pull valve covers and gaskets tonight at least and may get into the compression test and boost leak test. But I should definitely get it done by tomorrow or Wednesday.
