NP205 questions

Well i got my truck early this year. i had a lot of work done to it.
i had the mechanic grease the hubs and make sure they lock and inlock.
well when i got the truck back i noticed one hub was locked and one was not.
So i made sure they were both unlocked and that was that.
I Never verified if it was in 2 High.......
well this morning with the snow i decided to lock the hubs and test the 4wheel drive.
right away i noticed it was in 4wheel drive. It took a little bit of effort but it went in
to 2 high.

my question is for all summer i drove it in 4 high with hubs unlocked.
what damage could be done ?

thanks.

No problem at all. it's no different than having the hubs in and the transfer case out.

You wasted a gallon of gas all season. I leave my hubs locked year round, the only time I'll unlock them is if I intend to do a hyway road trip 100 miles or more. Been doing that since my first 4x4 in 1969 when I got my lic. And I've never hurt anything. And I don't go threw ujoints like a lot of people that keep them unlocked.

No damage if the hubs were not locked. If just one hub was unlocked it was still OK, perhaps why mechanic left one unlocked? Between two front hubs and the transfer case, as long as at least one of the three points is "open", you're OK on pavement.
