4r100 spring location?

4r100 spring location?
My buddy truck transmission stopped working out of the blue.
Its a 2000 7.3 f250 4x4.
We pulled the pan to take a look.
No obvious damage. Fluid looked fine, no material on the magnet.
So we pulled the valve body to check the feed bolts.
The feed bolts were loose , so we torqued them.
But when I went to clean the solonid pack.. I found a random spring.
Where did this spring come from?
It was just laying there. Top right of the picture

Looks like the electronic pressure control spring based on the size.

That's what I'm thinking. Whether it's a correct guess or not is up to you having the spring for the EPC already accounted for.

Thanks ,i think you are right.
What is the best way to put the checkballs back in? Leave them on the plate or grease them and stick them up in the trans?
