Replace Leaf Springs

I'd like to get a softer ride from my 49 F1. Any suggestions and where to get parts. Thanks

If you want to retain the the leaf spring setup you can contact Eaton Detroit Spring and discuss with them a set of custom leaf springs built to whatever softer ride you desire.

I swapped in rear springs from a 75 F150 on my 53 and removed a leaf or two, not sure how that would work on your 49. That saved me from buying new springs and the ride seems pretty nice.

In looking around for replacement rear springs for my 49 F-1, I found most were too long. I did, however, find a pair of 1990 Dodge Dakota springs that were just right. I used the Dakota springs and spring hangers and the ride was much better than the original springs.

There is an automotive spring company in Peoria, Illinois that has made custom springs for me before. Pricing seems to be reasonable. I can get you contact information if you're interested?
