I personally favor the six over the eight. The worn out six in my F-2 is still going strong, I don't know if an flat eight would have gone through what I've put my six through.
I can't really tell if it's in a car or truck. The carb isn't a stock truck carb.
Seems too far for most of us that would like to get it. It always seems like that. Right now I'm trying to work out arrangements to have a bunch of parts for my '37 Buick shipped from CA to me. I think it's a smoking deal even with the shipping. Anyone really needing this engine needs to check with the places that specialize in shipping engines or even Fastenal. I shipped a set of F-2 running boards via Fastenal. They were a lot cheaper than any other place. UPS and FedEx go nuts on prices for oversized items.
Yes it does look like it’s probably out of a car but most of the parts are the same. It’s about 90 miles for me and I’m considering picking it up just for the fact that a lot of the parts are so hard to find. I’ve owned a F1 with a 226 for 45 years plus and even the thermostat housing is getting almost impossible to find. Brian
It looks like the engine is in a truck to me. 49-51 Ford cars have a totally different frame and front suspension. I see truck steering box, truck tie rod and axle, truck motor mounts, truck inner fenders and left side upper shock mount. It has the wide fan belt, and firewall mount battery, albeit on the wrong side for a 6 cylinder. Cars have the battery at the left front and a big blower box where the battery tray is there. My 2c.
I agree, it looks like it is in a truck. Could be like mine where it was originally an 8 and was switched to the 6 sometime later. The battery tray was still on the passenger side. I moved it once I restored it.
It is in a truck. The steering box and frame parts for the motor mounts are truck only. 48 and earlier passenger car engine compartments look different and have the steering boxes mounted for cross steering.
