Is there a front end out there?

I have a 49 F1 and interested in removing the stock kingpins/straight axel and want to go to a modern setup with disc brakes and tilt steering/power steering. I had heard info that a mustang frontend around 1984 would bolt in. I currently have a 351 cleveland motor in it and really like it. Anyone with experience in this area? Thanks in advance to all.

Really. The original Mustang II front suspension crossmember was spot welded into the unibody (about a 1000 of them) and would require drilling them out. Then the strength and alignment into your frame are questionable. The aftermarket has responded to this with new engineered manufactured front suspension kits that for the most part are welded in. Try searching on google, there are many models available.

As stated above, Google search Mustang II front ends, There are many many suppliers and probably only a few real manufactures. There are no OEM front ends that will just bolt in. Maybe someone was referring to a Crown Vic conversion but it's too wide for your truck without big modifications.

You heard wrong. For starters, the front end out of an 84 Mustang doesn't just unbolt as an assembly. It also uses Macpherson struts which have the upper mounts built in as part of the unibody structure. There's no feasible way to make that work in an old pickup without building a full roll cage structure around the engine compartment and into the cab and box area like a race car.

Jaguar XJ6 IFS is an easy and less expensive swap but I believe with the 351 you would have to change to a rear sump oil pan.

Hey Wayne, how you doing ? I used to be here when I was building my F1 and now have a '56 F100 panel project.
Please correct me if I am wrong before I screw things up as I have been doing some research on parts for the panel.
It is my understanding that the 1979 to 1993 mustangs are a Fox body car and if that is so the K member is a bolt in removable one because the road racers put in a tube style.
I am splitting hairs here but it is not a true McPherson strut, it's call a modified one, as the coil spring mounts into the K member and the shock mounts into the shock tower, it's not a strut.
The only reason for mentioning this is the the strut (shock) is not the weight bearing part as it is in a true McPherson type suspension.
There is a ulterior motive here that will remain a secret for now,
