after replacing the tensioner assembly it sounded like the vacuum pump was squealing more than it should. I managed to replace it without gear puller. O'reilly's carries the complete pump with pulley and bolts in place. I managed to extract the old one with one of my favorite wrenches. the GearWrench ratcheting 10mm was the perfect tool for those 3 bolts. Not easy, but at least possible, I bet I've had that set of wrenches almost 20 years. She sounds pretty good now.

Reason: excess verbage
I assume the slight pfft pfft pfft sounds is normal. It is a pump! Overall, she's sounding good. I just need to work up the mojo to do the exhaust. But that's one of those jobs where you can't really go back after a certain point.
I used a Dremmel with metal blades to make cuts all down that seam. I have done worse jobs...like replacing the TXV in a W126 Mercedes with added crash bars.
Lots of guys do the Port O Let, I mean Power. Part of it depends upon cab mount quality, cab location on mounts, and where the driveline resides in its mounts.
For all you know it will drop right into place! On a stock truck it is good for around 20rwhp over the stock pipe from data I have seen.
