I'm in desperate need of getting my vacuum pump replaced, but I can't get the pulley off the pump to remove the bolts. Any ideas on what it takes to remove it? I'm currently getting maybe one good pump of the brakes before the lack of vacuum renders my brake booster useless. Thanks
What year model. The older ones had 3 bolts holding the pulley on.
Its a '94. It too had 3 bolts, but after backing them most of the way you back right into the pulley. I had read in previous post that you need a certain type of puller to get it off without damaging it.
Ok that is a whole different setup the older ones was EASY. I have never had to change that style probably need something like a power steering pump puller.
Some parts houses rent them.
You need a power steering pump pulley puller. Some part houses will let you change it there or rent the tool to you. Or go buy one from a discount place like Harbor Frieght. This is a power steering pump but same pricipal.
greenville, ca indian valley trading post, i had it out already and just handed him the pump. it took him two minutes but i didnt see what he used, i tried using a pully puller and it started to bend it so i just took it in.
starmilt... yea i went to take it off with a pulley puller and the sides started bending in, so i had to even it out and it is now off center and wobbles a bit. so i just took it in. do you live in cali?
