Question Hardware Battery Minder/Tender

Has anyone hardwired a Batter minder/tender in with the block heater?
The idea is that the batter minder/tender would work anytime the block heater is plugged in.

Yes thats a pretty common setup on equipment I work on. No reason you couldn't do it on a truck.

I am wondering where the appropriate/convenient place would be to tap into that line.
Or is there a suitable place to tap into a fuse box or something similar?

I did it on my 05...

Made the connection behind the driver side bumper. Tied into the plug coming out the front by the towing hook with a secondary plug behind so I could unplug the battery maintainer in the summer.

For some reason I went through 3 block heaters in a year doing this...unplugged the maintainer and Haven't had an issue since. Idk if the battery maintainer was pulsing and also pulsing the block heater and it burned out. But somehow theyre related I firmly believe.

Got a bigger alternator and new batteries and havn't looked back

I did something similar, but I did one individual for the heater and NOCO charger.

The amp draw might be too much to have them work simultaneously, but I am sure you can look into it.

I hole saw'd the plastic air dam at the bottom of the bumper

The charger I mounted on the right side by the vacuum reservoir. The charger is wired on the right battery and the system charges just fine since the batteries are linked.

Since I only use the block heater for a few hours on the really cold mornings, I left mine separate since the lower amperage Battery Tender (mine is the 5 amp version) wouldn't do much for the batteries for that short period.
And since I leave the Battery Tender plugged up during the periods the truck would not be used, I wouldn't want the block heater operating for that extended period.

Just my take, your situation(s) may be different.
