Question about Archoil

I have been monitoring a thread about a symptom that is the same as the one I have with my truck. Someone had mentioned in that thread about our Archoil and I wanted to know if you use it with every oil change? I am new to diesel life but I do rebuild my own race engines for my drag car. Also how many miles does everyone go between oil changes?

It was recommended by lots here to switch to a 5W-40 synthetic oil and add Archoil every oil change for help with injector stiction. I did both and it helped with my injector stiction problem. The truck ran much better with that change. It is also recommended to change you oil every 5K miles, which is what I do.

I use Archoil every oil change and have had no striction issues in either the cold or hot weather. For around $40, it is cheap insurance, in my opinion. I did talk to a technical person at Archoil years ago. It seems to add some lubricity to the oil and the truck at 112K miles still starts right up. I do not drive more than 5000 miles a year now so I change the oil once a year along with the fuel filter. I use10-40W diesel oil.and I pulll a 10,000 lbs. fifth wheel although I haven't pulled this last year. In summary, I believe there is upside to Archoil and litle or no downside. If there are typo errors in this response, I apologize - I schedules to cataract surgery at the VA next week. I think the drivers of of North Texas will appreciate that..

That helps a lot

Thank you both. I will be buying the Archoil today and synthetic oil along with all new filters. I will probably have to have a buddy do my oil change as I too have surgery at the VA tomorrow but mine is to rebrake bones in my wrist that I never did anything about. Marine Corps thing. Just didn’t want to be sent home from deployment.

This is my truck and it is my baby. The cap is no longer on it as I hate caps.

I'm on the Archoil and 5W-40 synthetic bandwagon as well. Use it year around and change out every 5K. Of course I barely change the oil twice a year so cost is not a big deal.

Thanks for the response. I do drive mine a lot. My wife and I have 6 children and 4 of them a spread out across the country so I want to do as much as I can in preventative maintenance as I can. I have been doing the oil every 3K I will be going to the 5K as my driving is mostly highway driving.

When we got our 6.0 it had stiction issues until it warmed up. Misfires, rough idle, etc.
Ran ok after awhile. Tried a couple rounds of archoil with oil changes. Didn’t help at all. Ended up replacing injectors, haven’t used it since.

I'm using synthetic 5w40 and Archoil. I only add Archoil every other oil change or so. After oil analysis and not adding achoil for 4 oil changes, the high potassium from the archoil was still present. When I started to get stiction again in extreme cold startups I added it again and it cleared right up. Some of my injectors are original with 235,000 miles.

That is good to know. I plan on doing the head studs over the winter because I do not drive mine in the winter ( I live in northern Illinois ). So I will probably just do all the injectors at the same time. I also plan on changing to water pump it to the one Bullet proof diesel has that is a billet water pump with the billet impeller.

Just noticed

I just noticed that if my truck is plugged in overnight it is fine when I fire her up. Never noticed before because I didn’t pay attention to it.

I have the German representatives for Archoil. The AR9100 helps very well, but if you wait too long, the only thing that helps is to replace the injectors.
I add the fluid to every 6.0 that comes to my workshop.

I will take a look at all of them later today. I had bones in my hand rebroke yesterday and reset. So needless to say I am in a lot of pain and have to wait till my pain meds kick in. I want to know everything about the 6.0 because I am a car guy that does all his own work on my cars including my race car.

I don't remember what the issue is, but I've seen a few recommendations against using Rotella T6 synthetic motor oil.

Sweet rigs, btw!
