Yaw sensor with a Bumper Pull Trailer
Yes, I have the Yaw sensor kit with the harness. It came with the 5th wheel prep package. My 7/12 socket is in the trailer bed. I plan to order a 7/12 socket and swap out my 7/4 on the bumper, or upgrade to the TPMS/Camera kit which comes with the 7/12 socket. I did lower my spare tire and have found the 12 pin wire harness. That makes the job much simpler.
All my instructions state that I am supposed to use the stickers for a conventional trailer and the yaw sensor for 5th wheels. Good to know you have been able to configure a conventional trailer to use the yaw sensor. I may have to wait till I get the 7/12 socket, as I am not sure the included harness is long enough to temporally connect it to the inside of the truck bed. But I do not have to actually mount the sensor until I am ready to calibrate it. So I may test this all out using the truck bed connector for now.
When you added your trailer as conventional did the system prompt you to pick stickers or yaw sensor? I think back in 2022 Ford was going back and forth with the stickers and/or sensor.
I see that "Lariat Driver", (thanks for all your info), has configured a second trailer profile to have his BLIS back.
I will post back after I configure and test out my system.
What was the part number of your TPMS/Camera Kit?
Since my earlier post I've converted the wiring harness and 7/12 pin connectors to accommodate the TPMS system and rear trailer camera along with the PTBA. That system came with a new 7/12 connector that replaced the factory 4/7 pin connector in the bumper. The 7 pin wiring harness on the back of the factory 4/7 connector just moves over to the new 7/12 connector. There is an unused connector just forward of the bumper, on the driver side of the spare tire that will fit the 12 pin connector on the new 7/12 bumper connector. The factory 4/7 connector has clips on the backside that you can easily access from under the truck to remove it and the new 7/12 connector just snaps in the same hole. If you lower the spare at least partially or completely (preferred), it will make your life easier. I'll check to see if I have a picture of those connectors. The new TPMS/camera harness came with an adapter that allows me to use a 4 pin flat harness plugged into the 7 pin connector.
What was the part number of the TPMS/camera kit you ordered?
Thanks again,
I do not have the part number. I ordered my truck with the TPMS setup and added the camera later. The TPMS kit will come with a new harness and will have a connection for the camera if you choose to add it down the road. I highly recommend both.
TPMS kit comes with the new 7/12 plug, a 7 to 4 pin adapter, 4 TPMS sensors, the TPMS module, the 12 pin harness with 3 connection points for yaw sensor, TPMS module, and camera cable. Also comes with a bracket to store the 12 pin in when not in use, and a bunch of zip ties and instructions.
You could pop the 7/12 out of the bed and put it in the bumper if you want to play with it. Im not sure if the 12 pin connector behind the spare piggy backs off of it or not. If it doesn’t pickup the sensor, I would say it does.
Have you played with the smart hitch? Pretty crazy how that works. Put a ball in the hitch and get ready to back up to a trailer. Simply hit the PTBA button and it’ll ask if a trailers attached. Select no. Then it’ll have you back up till it sees the trailer. Just follow the prompts. Simply hold the button down and it’ll back you up to the trailer. Pretty damn impressive.
Also, the manual states that to setup a conventional trailer with a sensor, install the sensor on the trailer and plug the connector into the connection on the bumper 12 pin prior to configuring the trailer. Otherwise it will be looking for a sticker.

I tried the backup to the hitch feature the other day. It is very cool. The system backed up about 1 inch to far each time. I tried it a few times. There does not seem to be a calibration option. I thought I would put some yellow tape on the top of the trailer hitch, see if that helps. Needs some setting where I can enter a standard distance off correction.
