If you have a deadblow hammer you might try lightly tapping on the base of the distributor and turning it on occasion to free it up. It might take some time but it worked for me.
I'm a big fan of a chunk of 4"x4" wood and a crowbar. Set the wood on edge of the cylinder head and try to leverage the crowbar on the side of the distributor that's opposite of the vacuum advance (if it has one). It'll help if you have a helper to help you not fling anything into the next time zone.
Pro tip- posting pictures with your thread always helps your "online helpers". Hope that helps.
That's what I was thinkin'! He's jes' showin' off... lol That poor distributor didn't stand a chance
Okay, busted. I WAS just showing off my big-@$$ pliers. Never had to use them on a dizzy, but if you need to hold the pinion yoke still to get that nut off, or torqued, they will do it.
...ps...

As suggested, soaked overnight in WD40 and then most of today in PB blaster. Pried out and found it missing pieces. While I found the large chunk, I suspect the engine is subject to severe damage should I try to use it. Guess I’ll be investing in a hoist, though I have serious trepidation about attempting any more work and having it get any worse (which seems to be how my life works). I appreciate the advice and assistance.
I have a philosophy when it comes to doing things for which my skill isn’t certain. “There is nothing that I can screw up so badly that someone, somewhere can’t possibly fix it!”. I’m sure there are more practical words of wisdom, but it has allowed me to accomplish things that I didn’t know I could do.
