My right rear drum squeaks/squeals as the wheels rotate. When the brakes are applied, that squeak goes away. I already cleaned it all out with brake clean and the brakes shoes aren't worn down. Could it be the 3 points by each shoe that need lubricated? I'm hoping it is because it's just the type of thing that bothers me when I hear it as im driving. I'll toss in a sound clip just because.
Jack it up and adjust it until the wheel locks up , then back it off until it turns freely. you can do it without jacking it up but it's harder to tell where you're at.
Okay I'm going to do it today. Should I use the little access hole on the back of the drum? I didn't think I'd be able to loosen it that way after tightening it till the wheel locks.
So I tightened the drums on both wheels and they really needed it. However, it still squeaks. I’m going to have someone sit on my bed while I drive slow to make sure it’s actually coming from the right rear wheel but I’m 99% sure it is. It almost seems as if it doesn’t squeak until my brakes are “warm.” It doesn’t seem to occur until after a few uses of the brake. I’m not sure if that would mean anything.
