Tpms sensors- self learning?
Ok, I have a 2011 awd escape, 150K miles. Today I had winter tires put on a set of 2003 rims I had bought last year. I didn’t want tpms sensors installed but ntb put them on anyhow. I had dropped off the rims, picked them up later & swapped my original wheels for the winter ones, expecting the dash tire pressure light to come on. It never did, at first I thought it was because the original tires were close enough to the escape that the car could read the sensors but I drove it back to where the wife works (5 miles away) and the light still never came on, I don’t really care because come April I switch tires back but I thought I would get a idiot light, it does come on along with all the others when you first start it. I thought the tire sensors had to be programmed to the vehicle somehow. Just seems unusual, maybe a previous owner somehow disabled the system, this vehicle doesn’t lock doors when put in drive like a lot of others do (which I’m glad, hate that crap) so maybe that’s been disabled too.
