Ok, so this may have been discussed last winter, but I put just put on my winter tires which are mounted on steel rims to save my 20" alloys from salt this winter. Not to mention the Michelin ATX 2 tires suck in the snow.
Anyway, the winter tires and rims do not have the tire pressure sensors in them, so I am expecting the warning to pop up everytime I start the truck and the little flat tire light to stay on all winter.
The question is.... Apart from the annoyance, is there any harm in this to the overall system? Will some sort of fault code be thrown that will mess up my truck?
Epic, I was wondering if you could tell me the dealer that you visited to have your TPMS reset to the lower psi rating for the bigger tires, you PM me? I will be in SLC in about 3 weeks and I could stop by to have them reset my psi. Can not find any dealers here in the Phoenix area that will do it. It is a real pain.
Thanks

Isn't there a TPMS delete option on the IDS system? If so, a quick trip to a dealer and they could turn it off.
probably, but the dealer will want to charge me $100 to do it... you know "we have to pay for our expensive machine and the tech's time..."
I was lucky enough to have the tpms threshold reset to 55psi when the truck was in for some warranty work, but I had to fight them for the $100 they wanted to charge me then as well.
