When will it stop!

Ram 3500 now rated at 1075 ft-lbs and 37,100 lbs towing. Anyone want to guess what it'll be like in 5 years? I'm guessing 600hp and 1500ft lbs with 42k lb rating.

If they start actually making people have a class B or A license and impounding the offenders something will happen. There is a reason payload sat at 9900 for years and years, then they just said the hell with it. I would hope the requirements for those licenses would get raised but that isn't usually how gov works. It is ridiculous that an 80yr old who has never driven anything larger than a sedan can buy a 32' motor home, hop in and drive with no issues but a guy with a newer 1 ton and 24' empty tandem dual trailer would be illegal with the same class c license.

Ya I see a lot of stupid people towing things they shouldn't be. I am no fan of additional laws and regulations but I think you should have to have an endorsement to tow anything over say 2500lbs. Almost every camping trip we go on I see a Ram 1500 towing a very large 5th wheel. This past week I also saw a new Ranger pulling a large bumper pull toy hauler.

The government already controls too much of our lives....let's not willingly give them more power over us just because of a few bad apples. Freedom. How does it work?

Yeah it's nuts.
A computer geek can aimlessly tow a 40 ft 5TH wheel but a yard jockey in a controlled environment needs a CDL. LOL
OK so Ford isn't going to tolerate these numbers by Dodge.....what's it gonna be ?

I agree, but just like texting and driving idiots who tow these stupid loads should have some sort of knowledge. I shouldn't have to back peoples campers in at campgrounds. If they make you get a motorcycle endorsement then why not make sure people are towing safely? I know it's a slippery slope, but I see a lot of idiots towing.

The idiots are only going to get worse, with states handing out DL's to illegals like candy, self-driving cars, and all these stupid driving aids forced into new vehicles now...

I'm willing to bet that accidents caused by class A, or people towing heavy are very, very slim compared to the soccer mom in her SUV texting her girlfriends in rush hour traffic every day. I am subscribed to several channels on YouTube that show nothing but dashcam accident videos in North America (not those crazy Russians). I watch every day during my down time at work. Clips of campers and heavy haulers wrecking are very slim.

I'm at the point that I hope Ford and GM just say "Good for you" and ignore it.
Let the marketing hype move to fuel economy, safety, or some other relevant part of the new truck.

If people need more power to tow something bigger, Let them move into something bigger than a class 3 truck and the associated licensing/insurance involved.

On a configuration that nobody stocks. Last I checked the HO cummins was less than a 20 percent option on the 3500. The option also costs more than the Ford option and Ford gives the same power rating on all pickups.

Ya I think it's silly how Ram does that.
