So today I was changing my fuel filters on my 2019 6.7 powerstroke, 3rd time for me... Went through the priming/purging procedure 6 times and tried to start the engine. It fired up but quit within a few seconds. Tried cranking 4 more times, about 5 seconds a piece, no luck. Finally realized I never closed the drain valve(didn't notice sooner because diesel was not pouring all over the ground). Closed the drain valve, went through the priming/purging procedure 6 times again, and the engine fired right up first time. Do you think I did any damage to my pump or injectors by cranking and running it dry at first? Thanks in advance.
Third time on a 2019 ? Do you drive a bunch of miles or do you have concerns about your fuel source ? Seems like a lot of filter changes .
I change mine every 12k miles, and right before the weather gets cold. Diesel fuel around me has a lot of water in it I’ve found. But yes I drive a lot of miles, I hotshot on the side.

Gotcha . I've only changed mine once on my 2017 , but I don't drive a bunch of miles , only 20k on the clock . I have a 2004 4x4 Ranger I use as a daily driver .
My 2020 F350 Maintenance Schedule has 20K for first oil change and 30K for first fuel filter change. And that is after plugging in 3K current mileage into the on line Ford maintenance guide.
You would think they would short cycle these to get people to the dealer service to spend $$.
I think I will stick to 7500 for oil and every third for the fuel filters.

20K seems like way too much. On my 19' I'm going by the Ford Pass OLM(20%), and I've changed mine at about 8K. It's pretty nasty by then.
Did first fuel filter change at 15K. Panel fikter looked really clean.
So much better(less messy) than my 6.0l.
