Opportunity to buy a 2016 F-250 diesel, XLT, 165000 miles for $19850. Kelly Blue Book puts mid retail about $10K more. This price is even way below the Private Owner range. This is from a used truck lot which mainly sells much larger trucks. They have very few pickups. This is the 6.7L diesel a 2016 for $20K. I am stoked. I am going down tomorrow to look at it and in lue of any surprises will buy it.. Just wanted to run this by you before I leave tomorrow.
That is why I going to look tomorrow. It looks like from what you wrote it is a good deal other things considered. Did not think about Car Fax. Thanks!
Pull you own CarFax and/or AutoCheck for $5.60 each here: https://www.gooffood.com/
Always good to have both as some things show up on one that might not show up on others.

I'd see if they'll let you have an independent shop (even if it's a Ford dealer) take a look at it before buying it.
My FIL once bought a used 2008 F450 that he was told ran okay but needed work...it fired up and moved, ran rough, but the body and interior was immaculate. He bought it because it was dirt cheap (about $10k), but it wouldn't go more than 25 mph and the motor grenaded on his drive home.
Unfortunately he didn't take it to his first choice of shop, and ended up with a Jasper motor that grenaded 3000 miles and 13 months later (lots of things happened to keep him from driving it).
This could be the same kind of story - truck looks great but there's a major underlying issue that no one wants to talk about.
It also could be a great deal on a great truck - be cautious but I'd check it out.
Perhaps one of the things to bear in mind here is dealers don't sell at a loss and when a dealer sells below market value there is always a reason, especially when something is way below market value. You have to ask your self why is the dealer doing this. Sometimes sales are simply way too slow and they have to raise some cash, but that is not the only reason. Unless someone has a great knowledge base about they are assessing I think having someone look it over who is more knowledgeable is always helpful. I made a lot of buying mistakes when I was younger. I am sure I still make them, but at least as I have aged they became less frequent.

This is exactly what I was referring to. The market, at least around me, is still pretty hot for SuperDuty pickups. So for one to be priced that low, I'd be afraid there is something seriously wrong with it, because at that price I don't think it would have even hit the lot.
All good advice. Pulled the Car Fax - clean. The statement that dealers don't sell at a loss is true and I am still puzzled at the price we settled on $18300.So I brought a friend to drive my car home if I bought. He is a Ford diesel tech/mech. That is all he does. He walked away scratching his head - he found no red flags. So I bought it. The 2 hour drive home was a pleasure, We,will see in the future if I beat the system or was sucked in. Until then I am a happy camper. By the way, the place is Debary Truck Sales in Sanford, FL. Their inventory is only trucks from pick ups to big Volvo/Freightliner tractors. New and used.

It sounds like you did well and that is great! One thought I had about the price is I was wondering if the dealer bought it at a repo auction. When I was doing that with a dealer, sometimes we sold under wholesale and still made really good money. Sometimes good deals do happen!!
