I agree with all above, but as the owner of a 239 in my 54, I have no problem with it. We don’t set any land speed records, but it is reliable with no trouble starting in 0 degree weather. Supposed to have a top speed of 89 mph, but never been over 70 with it in the 42 years I’ve had it.

I had four 54 239s in my garage at one time so had plenty of spare parts. Hang on to it as the Custom Line sedans of 54 and 53 ran the same Y Block. I join a Custom Line club for a few years as it helped with locating parts.

Engine ECZ 6025A
That should read ECZ-6015-A.
See attachment -

Intake manifold ECZ 9425-A

Carb Carter WCFB
That is a 1956 intake. 4V square bore plenum pad. The CARTER may indicate it is a MERC engine which will make it a 312 for the 1956 model year. You need to find and record all CASTING ID NOS, DATE CASTING CODES and FOUNDRY CODE to find what you actually have.

There were two separate 239 CI engines in 1954, one EBU (DIF) which was used in PASS CAR and has the oddball design and parts and EBV (CF) which is the same basic design as the following 256-272-292 LT engines
