I have a 1960 f100 with a 223 siz cylinder and a 4 speed. Does anyone know what model the transmission is, and what V8 motor can bolt to it besides the Yblock.
I don't know (or don't remember), but does it matter? 4 speeds to fit later V8 motors are very common, and they'll give you some useful features like a synchronized first gear. And if you buy a complete motor/bellhousing/tranny combo it'll be simpler to keep track of what year and model parts it uses.
M58F pretty much nailed it & you'll need a different Bellhousing, as the one for the 223 I-6 doesn't interchange w/ anything else.
Why break up the original set, unless you plan on doing some street racing & you believe you require a crappy v-8 to do it w/.
The Venerable 223c.i. I-6 & 4-speed trans will give you good service for years to come once they are remanufactured & re-gear the 9" Punkin for Hwy use & economy.

The T-98 was a unique transmission because it used the bell housing for the mounts and used the same hole pattern as the medium duty trucks. The later ones used a mount at the rear of the trans. As far as I know, there is no bell housing to fit a Ford small block for these transmissions. You could use a bell housing for a FT out of a mid 60-70s medium duty truck (if changing to a FE V8) or a bell housing for a 370/429 out of a early 80s medium duty (if using a 351M/400, 429 or 460). Only problem here is, the mounts are different for these so you would also have to use the crossmember from the donor truck also.(I have a 370 in my 59 F600 that came from a 80 F600, had to use the trans crossmember from the 80.)
