i have a 1953 f100 with a 1955 f100 239 y block in it and was wondering if anyone knows if parts from a 1957 292 y block parts fit ..mainly the transmission..im not a machanic and i dont know much but starting to learn any help would be appreciated..
It depends on what transmission you have.
Generally these trucks came with the t98 transmission. The T98 Transmission - Novak Conversions
Ford used it until 1964.
I'm no expert, but there is a good chance if the 1957 transmission is stock, it will bolt right up.
Do you have pictures of any of these? Do you have a transmission with your 239.
Also, some parts will interchange between the 239 and 292. I have a 239 that was rebuilt around 1970 and I have a 239 head on one side and 272 on the other. The work was done by a top quality rebuilder back then.
the only picture i have is from the rebuilt engine but working on it.. the tranny this one had was a 4 speed t 98 ..i was planning on buying from a guy on craigslist a 292 yblock with a 4 speed tranny from a 1957 f100 witch i am looking for but im not sure if it will fit my 55 f100 239 yblock ..
