Question for you guys. I'm noticing boost of up to 32 when I do a quick takeoff. Isn't that a little high? Noticed it the other day getting on the interstate. I have been watching it a little closer past few days and it goes to 29-32 on quick starts. Any input or idea's? Is that normal? Truck runs great. Just thinking preventative maintenance.
I used to get 28 promptly at WOT, then I installed a Ford reman turbo due to wear on the unison ring etc. Now I get 24 & more lag with pressure that slowly creeps to 28 over about six - eight seconds or so with sustained WOT. I liked driving the "worn" turbo better. If it were me I would keep an eye on it and drive it until it requires fixing then buy a KC turbo. Good luck ,Russ
Will look at that in morning. Don't normally turn on Torque till after I start truck. Kinda ritual when I get in truck. Will post in morning before work. To lazy right now. It normally shows 14.2 when idleing at startup.
Ok. My map reads 14.4 koeo. I'm running up to 19- 25 every day red lights and daily driving. It's jus I noticed if I really jump on it I get 29-31. What would be possible causes of that high of boost?
If you put a T and get a mechanical gauge hooked up to the map hose, you can read the boost. That can tell if the truck number correct or not.
My boost lately didn't go over 20 psi. I got to check highway wot to see, but maybe rebuild time.
Yah that map reading was plus baro. Torque has 2 map pids. I put the 2nd up and it reads 0 or .04 koeo. I wasn't that worried at that point so I went and really WOT and got 21.5 psi out of it on the on ramp to interstate. I am still thinking about a rebuild on my turbo.
Sometimes my head don't work. Bismic mentoined reading koeo. And after some research figured out I was reading it at psi plus 14.7 baro. Dah!!!###
