Ok, You guys can see my sig., Now....If Im hammering on it in the 120 race tune from Jody, my EGT's go from lets say 700 to 1200 deg. in like NO TIME,I mean by the time it goes through the gears its hitting 1200 deg.. Is this normal,ok, acceptable, or is there something goin on? Also, Im only getting about 21 to 22.lbs of boost, and the needle on my boost gaugeis jumping back and forth with about a 3.lb difference, normal for my mods.? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
THX as always Schlepprock
your boost is a little low,I would check boots and up-pipes for leaks
So...you think my boost is a little low even with the WW? I also have new bellowed uppipes, the uppipes might be leaking though 'cause we had a tough time getting them to bolt up and line up right And would a boost leak make the boost gauge needle jump ( pulsate )?
your boost should be steady, normally a surge or WG problem would cause that, but you shouldn't get any surge, you might check tension on WG spring or play in turbo shaft
my turbo is fairly new and all new boot and boost about 28 lbs

Well Im not getting surge...Just the needle on the boost gauge is jumping a little( its not a fluid motion when accelerating. It also does it when I have the waste gate plugged into a bolt.
If the waste gate spring was weak it would bleed off boost right, well like I said it only makes about 21 .lbs of boost AND the needle on the gauge kinda shakes.
OK...I have ANOTHER question....(sorry guys....really cant figure this one out) OK,I installed the ATS housing, I read the destructions (just for overview) and they said I would have to "CUT" the wastegate rod a half an inch....OK NOW what I actually did was thread the fitting on the end of the wastegate rod in till it would connect to the wastegate. I went out and looked at it to check for movement, weakness and it will barely move, and of course I have what I would say is low boost and like I posted before the needle on the gauge shakes when accelerating,is it because I didnt 'CUT" the rod and just threaded it till it would reach,or does it actually move that much? Again...sorry for the long post
Thx Schlepprock
are you moving WG rod by hand and how hard to move
Ok, standing at the front reaching in and grabbing the rod, it wont move at all to the drivers side but it will only move like a quarter inch to the passenger side...but very HARD to move.
But if its stiff and hard to move ...wouldnt that give LESS bleed off??
Yeah..its very hard to move...Im just still trying to figure out where my boost is at and why the gauge looks like its vibrating during acceleration.
Oh well...thx alot for the help.
did you have to pull the rod out a little to hook it to the WG arm
NO..it wouldnt connect to the wg. the instructions that came with the ATS housing said to CUT the rod by a half inch, But I didnt cut it I ran the fitting on the end of the rod in till it would connect to the wg.
