Hey guys have a question. May trade my f250 gas for a f450 crew 4x4. I pull a 39 ft bumper pull rv. Are the weight distribution bars on my new equalizer set up needed? Also the head of the hitch has the sway built in and works great. Will not using the bars effect that any? Camper weighs around 10k with 1100lb tongue weight give it take. Thanks guys!!
Yes, you still want the full WDH setup. I don't know which Equalizer hitch you have but on most WDH, if you don't have the bars in place, all you have is a hitch, not a WDH.
I agree with Jim. I would encourage you to keep them at least until you have a chance to try it without the bars. Normally I have found that even when you can't see the squat, it still feels better with bars.
Where you could run into a problem is if the receiver on the DRW is 3" and the SRW was 2.5". Reducer sleeves can be a pain to deal with. Noisy and they can allow the hole for the hitch pin to wallow out.
I bit the bullet on mine and upgraded to a 3" shank WDH.

My thoughts exactly. I need a 6 inch drop anyhow, they ordered 4 for my 250, so if I do this I will do like you and just get the 3" with a 6" drop
I don't know this for sure, but the DRW may be closer to the ground than the SRW. A 6" drop would have been plenty on my SRW, but I got the 8" without really verifying the height.
I've always continued using the trunnion bars with each truck upgrade simply to negate squat.
with a properly set up hitch, the truck and trailer should be level or very close.
The numbers you quoted on a 39ft trailer are very conservative. Imo
My 30ft ultralight has an 1050 lb tounge......wife may play a roll.
