521, I am a fan of stroker motors, but I am wondering what is the actual cost to do the whole thing? Say you wanted to build up a 460 a certain way. Instead, you decide to build it to 521 ci. What would the price differance be?
Not to avoid your question, but that's a pretty general one. It really depends what you want to do, and what you can do.
I wanted 500 tq at around 3000 rpm, (figured that should be enough to pass the $5 bill on the dash test) emissions legal, daily driver, looking for 150,000 more miles before I have to go into it again. My goals were lofty, so it came with a hefty sticker. I have currently $11,000 in a 521, and expecting to spend another $1,000. Do you have to spend that much, no. Can you spend more? Way more!
After doing my research, 500 tq was in the budget, 600 tq was gonna cost more than I was willing to spend. 600 is obtainable with a 521, but it's an entirely different beast!
Decide what the budget is, stick to it (easier said than done) Decide what's important to ya, then get the best bang for your buck, can't go wrong with that strategy.

A serious high performance engine for Bracket or 8.90/9.90 Class Racing.
Also fits Fox chassis cars for the ultimate in Pro Street crate motors
And this is a great torque monster how? GearJammer wants to put this in a 1966 F100 Ranger Custom Cab long bed, Not a Mustang bracket racer, or a Pro Street!
Seems to me, A torque monster is finished making torque around 3750 rpm, not just starting to make it. Just my opinion.

My goal is to get 400lb+ of torque at the rear wheels as close as possible to 2000 rpm and peak numbers in the 450+ range @ 3500 rpm
You don't think it will make 450+ tq at 3500 rpm? I have not seen a dyno chart or specs, so I don't know for sure.
I'd also like to know how you are going to get any traction with that kind of torque in a long bed pick up. Seems like that would get you bragging rights and lots of tire smoke (aside from broken driveline parts), but not much else
The ? is not whether the Ford 514 crate engine is suitable for a truck but what would you change to make it a stump puller? Cam, etc. Seems like a good start.
well i have a 460 built with 520+fpt and 435 hp.Used to have 351m and 400m got tired of blowing them so built one with all i've needed so far but it's only been a year and lookin for a bit more already.
