460 hp and torque numbers??
I'm looking at buying a 460 and a C6 from a '74 Lincoln Town Car. I wanted to see if anyone knew the horsepower and torque rating on this engine. I've already googled it and wasn't impressed. The engine would be used in a 91 Ford Ranger 2wd long box. I have alot of small blocks and thought the big block would be unique. Let me know what you think.

Stock, it's a pooch, a pillow-barge powerplant made to run along at 1800 rpm, shifting at 3500 wot, never mussing the hair on my mothers head. Mom liked her 460 in an LTD, as it flattened mountains with ease.
If you are just going to put a stock motor in a Ranger, save your money. You will pay all the costs, and get few, if any benefits.
If you are going to make it into a runner, but not a real firebreather, consider a Mustang 302.
If you are going to make it a firebreather, stand by, Monsterbaby has done this and can help you along.

Actually the 460 into a ranger has been done a few times. I already have a healthy 306 in one of my rangers. It's my third v-8 ranger. I want to build one with a big block.

Well it wasn't either! They guy told me it was a '72. The tags on the valve covers said 1977. The engine and trans are super clean. No signs of oil leaks or anything! I'm planing on a new timing gear and cam, new intake and carb. The heads are the D3VE a I've heard there is bump in the exhaust port to take out. Other than that, I'm going to run it.
